Managing Partner, AUA Private Equity
Andy Unanue is the Managing Partner of AUA Private Equity Partners, LLC and a member of AUA Private Equity’s Investment Committee. Prior to establishing AUA Private Equity, Mr. Unanue founded AU & Associates, LLC, the family office for the Unanue family. Previously, he held various positions with Goya Foods, Inc., including Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Unanue currently serves on several corporate boards including: Goya, Raymundos Food Group, Tijuana Flats Restaurants, VStar Entertainment, Gel Spice Company and Associated Supermarket Group. Additionally, he serves on several not-for-profit boards including his family's charitable foundation, The C&J Unanue Foundation, is a member of the University of Miami's President Council, the University of Notre Dame’s Cavanaugh Council and on the Columbia University Medical Center’s Board of Advisors. Mr. Unanue received his M.B.A from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and his B.A. from the University of Miami.
John has over 15 years of experience investing in and building middle-market companies, including several operating roles within portfolio companies. Prior to co-founding Wincove, John was a Vice President at Hampshire Equity Partners, which he joined in 2003. At Hampshire, John was responsible for evaluating and executing potential investments, and managing portfolio company investments. He began his career in the investment banking division of Rothschild Inc.
John is currently a Director of Aloi Solutions, Hygrade Components, Bluff Manufacturing, Comstar Technologies and Rhino Assembly, and was previously a Director of GI Plastek and Connect-Air International.
John graduated from Georgetown University and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. He lives in New York City with his wife and two children. He serves on the NYC Advisory Board of Back on My Feet, a charity that addresses homelessness through running.
Managing Director, New Mountain Capital
Matt joined New Mountain as an operating partner in 2016 and has worked as an executive in NMC companies continuously since 2007. He serves on the Boards of CIOX Health, Gelest, Cytel and Alteon Health and also works closely with Avantor and other NMC companies. Matt was previously CEO of CIOX Health. Before that, he was Executive Vice President, Global Medical Operations and Chief Legal Officer for Ikaria, Inc., where he served in additional executive roles, including Chief Financial Officer and head of Corporate Development. Prior to joining Ikaria, Matt was Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, Chief and Business Officer at VIASYS Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: VAS), where he was responsible for the company’s growth and mergers and acquisitions. Before VIASYS, Matt was an advisor on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and commercial transactions in the health care field at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, and a litigator in the health care area at Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young. He holds an AB in Political Science from Princeton University and a JD from Villanova University School of Law.
Lead Operating Partner, Blue Wolf
Mr. Winegar joined Blue Wolf in 2012. He has over 28 years of experience leading manufacturing and service company operations guiding organizational transformation, performance turnarounds and IT systems implementations. Mr. Winegar leads Blue Wolf’s Operating Partner team and external resource network. Since joining Blue Wolf, he has served as the interim COO of Pearl Technologies, Inc. (Gloucester) and ModernMD Urgent Care and National Home Health Care and launched Blue Wolf’s Talent Management, Executive Summit, and Safety, Health & Environmental Programs. Mr. Winegar oversees operational due diligence and onboarding of portfolio companies and is an active advisor and board observer for Twin Rivers Paper Company, Finch Paper Company LLC, ModernMD Urgent Care and Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice.
From 2010–2012, Mr. Winegar worked at Capgemini Consulting and led the startup of Capgemini’s North American manufacturing team. He served corporate and private equity clients in vaccine manufacturing, pulp and paper, Department of Defense, and capital equipment manufacturing. During this period, Mr. Winegar began his collaboration with Blue Wolf, serving as Lead Engagement Partner for Transformation Initiatives at Finch Paper Company LLC and Pearl Technologies, Inc. (Gloucester), and serving as interim COO at Channel Technologies Group LLC, leading diligence and value creation planning.
Previously, Mr. Winegar served as a Principal at Tunnell Consulting, a leading operations and compliance consultancy serving Fortune 100 clients in life sciences and fine chemicals. Between 2001 and 2010, he led performance, quality and compliance, and cost transformation engagements across global networks for clients including Pfizer, Roche, and Watson Pharmaceuticals. Notably, from late 2005 to early 2007, Mr. Winegar led the critical expansion of Roche Pharmaceutical’s global Tamiflu supply chain, in response to the threat of an Avian flu pandemic. As Roche’s external program manager, Mr. Winegar led a global team to successfully expand Tamiflu’s end to end supply chain capacity by 400% in 14 months; an effort that earned appreciation from national governments and the World Health Organization.
From 1990–2000, Mr. Winegar held a variety of roles of increasing responsibility at American Cyanamid, a $2 billion global agriculture and specialty chemicals producer. Early in his career at Cyanamid, Mr. Winegar worked in unionized shop floor environments, progressing rapidly through leadership roles in plant operations and contract manufacturing management to become Divisional Head of Quality, and finally Director of Latin American Manufacturing.
Mr. Winegar began his career at Chevron USA as a Production and Facilities Engineer overseeing the design, contracting, and installation of offshore oil and gas production facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Winegar received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Partner - PwC
Mike is an M&A Partner with PwC's Advisory practice in Boston. Over the past 15 years his focus has been advising clients on a range of issues across the deal continuum including due diligence to identify operational risks, financial improvement opportunities, and synergies. Post-deal, Mike has led large-scale transformational integrations and divestitures, cost reduction programs, system implementations and IT strategy work. Mike’s experience includes both corporate and private equity clients representing a range of industries including retail, industrial and consumer products and healthcare. Prior to joining PwC, Mike spent several years at a boutique consulting firm and as a freelance writer for CMP Media. Mike earned his B.S. from Syracuse University and his M.B.A. from Columbia University.
